Tieli City is the only county-level city in Yichun City, where the government is stationed. It is named after the ancient Tieli Prefecture and Tieli Ministry. Located in longitude 127 °38 "20"-129 °24 "10" east and latitude 46 °28 "40"-47 °27 "30" north, it is located at the southern foot of Xiaoxingan Mountains in Heilongjiang Province, China, spanning 140 kilometers from east to west and 110 kilometers from north to south. The land area is about 4000 square kilometers, with a total population of 300000 (2019). In September 1988, it was approved by the State Council to withdraw the county and build Tieli City. In 2011, it was awarded the title of "China's most valuable tourist city", and in 2012, it was awarded as China's "National Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism demonstration County". Famous scenic spots include Riyue Gorge National Forest Park, Tuolongshan Scenic spot and Riyue Gorge Ski Resort.
