Los Angeles (US: /lɔːs ˈændʒələs/ (listen) lawss AN-jəl-əs;[a] Spanish: Los Ángeles [los ˈaŋxeles], lit. 'The Angels'), often referred to by its initials L.A., is the largest city in the state of California and the second most populous city in the United States after New York City, as well as one of the world's most populous megacities. Los Angeles is the commercial, financial, and cultural center of Southern California. With a population of roughly 3.9 million residents within the city limits as of 2020, Los Angeles is known for its Mediterranean climate, ethnic and cultural diversity, being the home of the Hollywood film industry, and its sprawling metropolitan area. The city of Los Angeles lies in a basin in Southern California adjacent to the Pacific Ocean in the west and extending through the Santa Monica Mountains and north into the San Fernando Valley, with the city bordering the San Gabriel Valley to its east. It covers about 469 square miles (1,210 km2), and is the county seat of Los Angeles County, which is the most populous county in the United States with an estimated 9.86 million residents as of 2022.

Urumqi County, which belongs to Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, is located at the northern foot of Tianshan Mountain and the southern margin of Junggar Basin. The county covers an area of 4141 square kilometers between latitude 43 °01 / 08 north and longitude 86 °37 / 56 / 22 / 44 °06 / 11 and longitude 86 °58 / 22 / 22, respectively. Urumqi County is a continental arid climate in mid-temperate zone, with large temperature difference, drastic changes in cold and summer, long sunshine hours and sufficient heat. As of 2018, Urumqi County has jurisdiction over 3 towns, 3 townships and 2 districts, and the county government is stationed at 99 Nanhua Road, Banfanggou Town, Urumqi County. As of 2017, Urumqi County has a total population of 60697. In the second year of Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty (60 BC), the Xiongnu expelled the King Xianxian to the Han Dynasty, and the Han Dynasty unified the Western region.
