Memphis is a city in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is the seat of Shelby County in the southwest part of the state; it is situated along the Mississippi River. With a population of 633,104 at the 2020 U.S. census, Memphis is the second-most populous city in Tennessee, after Nashville.
Memphis is the fifth-most populous city in the Southeast, the nation's 28th-largest overall, as well as the largest city bordering the Mississippi River. The Memphis metropolitan area includes West Tennessee and the greater Mid-South region, which includes portions of neighboring Arkansas, Mississippi and the Missouri Bootheel. Horgos, which belongs to Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, is located in the western border of China, bordering Kazakhstan, five countries of Central Asia in the west and inland provinces and cities in the east. The area within the radius of 1000 km is the densely populated area, economically developed area and market center of Central Asia. As of 2016, Horgos has jurisdiction over four subdistrict offices, one ethnic township, one pasture and two bingtuan farms. At the end of 2015, the total population of permanent residents in the city (including bingtuan) was 87200. The area is 1908.
