Xinyang, known as Yiyang and Shenzhou in ancient times, also known as Shencheng, a prefecture-level city in Henan Province, is located in the southernmost part of Henan Province, the upper reaches of the Huaihe River, Anhui Province in the east and Hubei Province in the south. It is a strategic area between Jianghuai River and Han Dynasty, and it is also a transitional zone of geography, climate and culture between the north and south of China.
