Yingkou City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, is located in the center of the Liaodong Peninsula, the east bank of the Bohai Sea and the estuary of the Daliao River, between longitude 121 °56 °E and latitude 39 °55 °40 °56'N, with a total area of 5402 square kilometers. The climate of Yingkou is characterized by long and cold winter, warm and rainy summer, dry and windy spring, cool autumn, four distinct seasons, hot and rainy in the same season, and belongs to the continental monsoon climate. As of 2018, Yingkou City has jurisdiction over 4 municipal districts and 2 county-level cities, and the municipal government is stationed at No. 1 Xinlian Street East, West District, with a total registered population of 2.314 million. In the first year of Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty (1909), the Qing government withdrew Yingkou Coastal Defense Hall and set up Yingkou Zhili Hall, which was directly under the jurisdiction of Fengtian Province.
