Yuzhong District, located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and Chongqing metropolitan area, is one of the nine districts of the main city of Chongqing. Located in the confluence zone of the Yangtze River and Jialing River, due to the two rivers surrounded, shaped like a peninsula, also known as Yuzhong Peninsula. Yuzhong District, as the political, economic, cultural and commercial circulation center of Chongqing, is also known as "mountain city" and "river city". Bayu culture, Anti-Japanese War culture and Hongyan spirit originated here. By the end of 2017, Yuzhong District had a registered population of 508000 and a resident population of 659000. It covers an area of 23.24 square kilometers (land area 20.08 square kilometers) and has 11 streets under its jurisdiction.
