The Kansas City metropolitan area is a bi-state metropolitan area anchored by Kansas City, Missouri. Its 14 counties straddle the border between the U.S. states of Missouri (9 counties) and Kansas (5 counties). With 8,472 square miles (21,940 km2) and a population of more than 2.2 million people, it is the second-largest metropolitan area centered in Missouri (after Greater St. Louis) and is the largest metropolitan area in Kansas, though Wichita is the largest metropolitan area centered in Kansas. Alongside Kansas City, Missouri, these are the suburbs with populations above 100,000: Overland Park, Kansas; Kansas City, Kansas; Olathe, Kansas; Independence, Missouri; and Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Lianzhou, a county-level city hosted by Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northwest of Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, the upper reaches of Xiaobei River, Yangshan County in the southeast, Liannan County in the southwest, Lanshan County and Jianghua County in Hunan Province in the northwest, Linwu County in Hunan Province in the north and Yizhang County in Hunan Province in the northeast, with a total area of 2663.33 square kilometers. Lianzhou City is located at the southern foot of Mengzhuling in Nanling, with mountains on the west, north and east, and slightly lower in the middle. It belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate zone, which is affected by the monsoon all the year round. The river in the territory belongs to the Lianjiang River system, a tributary of the Beijiang River (a tributary of the Pearl River). As of 2014, Lianzhou has jurisdiction over 10 towns and 2 ethnic townships. In 2016, Lianzhou had a resident population of 382200, with 29 ethnic groups, with the Han nationality as the main ethnic group and a minority.
