The Kansas City metropolitan area is a bi-state metropolitan area anchored by Kansas City, Missouri. Its 14 counties straddle the border between the U.S. states of Missouri (9 counties) and Kansas (5 counties). With 8,472 square miles (21,940 km2) and a population of more than 2.2 million people, it is the second-largest metropolitan area centered in Missouri (after Greater St. Louis) and is the largest metropolitan area in Kansas, though Wichita is the largest metropolitan area centered in Kansas. Alongside Kansas City, Missouri, these are the suburbs with populations above 100,000: Overland Park, Kansas; Kansas City, Kansas; Olathe, Kansas; Independence, Missouri; and Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Pingyu County, which belongs to Zhumadian City, Henan Province, is located in the east of Zhumadian City, about 60 kilometers away from the city, bordering Xincai County and Linquan County in Anhui Province in the east, Xiangcheng County and Shangcai County in the north, Zhengyang County in the south and Runan County in the west, with a total area of 1282 square kilometers. By the end of 2017, Pingyu County had a resident population of 721700, with a regional gross domestic product (GDP) of 21.51167 billion yuan. According to different industries, the added value of the primary industry, the secondary industry and the tertiary industry was 3.94945 billion yuan, 9.23472 billion yuan and 83.2 yuan respectively.
