The Kansas City metropolitan area is a bi-state metropolitan area anchored by Kansas City, Missouri. Its 14 counties straddle the border between the U.S. states of Missouri (9 counties) and Kansas (5 counties). With 8,472 square miles (21,940 km2) and a population of more than 2.2 million people, it is the second-largest metropolitan area centered in Missouri (after Greater St. Louis) and is the largest metropolitan area in Kansas, though Wichita is the largest metropolitan area centered in Kansas. Alongside Kansas City, Missouri, these are the suburbs with populations above 100,000: Overland Park, Kansas; Kansas City, Kansas; Olathe, Kansas; Independence, Missouri; and Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Yuhu District, which belongs to Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, is one of the two urban areas of Xiangtan City, which is located on the bank of Xiangjiang River in central Hunan. The Yuhu District gets its name from the thousand-year-old scenic spot "Rain Lake" in the territory. It is the commercial, scientific, educational and cultural center of Xiangtan, the key area of "two-oriented" social construction of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration and the leading area of "two-oriented" social construction of Xiangtan city. As of 2018, Yuhu District has a total area of 451.39 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over eight streets, three towns and one township, with a total population of 520914 in 2016. In 2016, the Yuhu District completed a GDP of 59.254 billion yuan. Yuhu District is the birthplace of Xiangtan City, where Xiangtan County was relocated in the Song Dynasty. Because of the proximity to the Xiangjiang River, the water and land transportation is well developed; in the Yuhu District, there are Wanlou, Confucian Temple, Guan Sheng Dian, Luban Dian, Tangxing Temple and Qiu Jin's former residence.
