The Kansas City metropolitan area is a bi-state metropolitan area anchored by Kansas City, Missouri. Its 14 counties straddle the border between the U.S. states of Missouri (9 counties) and Kansas (5 counties). With 8,472 square miles (21,940 km2) and a population of more than 2.2 million people, it is the second-largest metropolitan area centered in Missouri (after Greater St. Louis) and is the largest metropolitan area in Kansas, though Wichita is the largest metropolitan area centered in Kansas. Mazhang District, located on the Leizhou Peninsula in the southwest of Guangdong Province, was formerly a suburb of Zhanjiang City, a municipal district under the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, bordering the South China Sea. The registered population of the district is 273700 (2010), and it has jurisdiction over three towns: Mazhang, Huguang and Taiping. Mazhang District has convenient transportation, which is not only the transportation hub of Zhanjiang City from the east to the west, but also the traffic throat of western Guangdong connecting Hainan and the provinces and cities in the southwest.
